Caritas Christi Health Care System
Caritas
Christi was established in 1985 as a result of the foresight of Bernard Cardinal
Law and his idea that Catholic hospitals in Massachusetts should work together
to achieve not only clinical success, but to benefit from economies of
scale. This concept of forming a system of hospitals was born long before other
health care systems were forming.
Today Caritas Christi is one of the largest healthcare systems in New
England, providing community-based medicine and tertiary care in eastern
Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Our Mission
Caritas Christi is a Catholic Health Care System rooted in the
history of the Archdiocese of Boston. As a community of health care
providers, we affirm Christ's healing ministry, foster excellence in
care, and commit ourselves to those in need in accordance with the
principles of the Catholic Church.
Through our programs and services, which cover the spectrum of health care,
we affirm the sanctity of life, advocate for the poor and disenfranchised, and
exercise responsibility for the common good. With just stewardship of our human
and material resources, we pledge to strengthen this health care ministry
through sound health care practice, research, education and innovation.
Core Values
After careful consideration the Caritas Christi Health System has
chosen to allow each of their sponsored facilities to choose the
values that best reflect their respective cultures and the beliefs
of the individuals whose actions bring these core values to life.
Group Membership Profile:
Caritas Christi Health Care System currently sponsors hospitals,
hospice care, home care, affiliated nursing homes, assisted living
facilities, nursing care centers, mission outreach programs and
education programs in three states.
