Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) Policy
Consorta is an award-winning Champion for Change and
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing practices, supporting the
goals of H2E (Hospitals for a Healthy Environment) and of HCWH
(Health Care Without Harm). We actively promote their programs and
provide resources to member healthcare organizations working towards
certain goals, including H2E’s goals to:
- Virtually eliminating mercury-containing waste from the
health care waste stream
- Reducing the overall volume of waste (both regulated and
non-regulated waste)
- Identifying hazardous substances for pollution prevention
and waste reduction opportunities, including hazardous chemicals
and persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic pollutants
We encourage all healthcare facilities to become members of H2E.
H2E’s mission is to provide education, tools, and information about
best environmental practices to help health care professionals
improve operational efficiency, increase compliance, and improve the
health of their communities.
