Advocacy
Consorta strongly advocates on behalf of its members and the
industry. Working with McDermott, Will & Emery, a legislative law
firm in Washington, D.C., Consorta has been instrumental in ensuring
that the group purchasing Industry addresses concerns through
voluntary actions by GPOs rather than legislative or regulatory
intervention.
To accomplish this goal, Consorta's executive
management have taken a leadership role and are actively involved in
developing strategies and key messages for legislators on both of
national and local level.
Consorta is a founding member of the Healthcare Group Purchasing
Industry Initiative (HGPII), an initiative formed in 2005 to promote
and monitor best ethical and business practices in purchasing for
hospitals and other healthcare providers. The goal of HGPII is to
assure ongoing adherence to ethical conduct and business practices,
and to hold the confidence of the public and the Government in the
integrity of the industry.
