Via Christi Health System
Via Christi Health System, with headquarters in Wichita, Kansas,
encompasses acute care hospitals, physician practices, senior care
facilities, health plans, research institutes, philanthropic
foundations, affiliated businesses and other health-related
concerns. In Latin, Via Christi means "The Way of Christ" and this
name reflects the organization's values as a Catholic,
not-for-profit healthcare corporation. Via Christi is sponsored by
the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita and the Sisters of the
Sorrowful Mother and is dedicated to the health of the body, mind,
and spirit.
Mission
The mission of Via Christi is to further the healthcare ministry
of its sponsoring congregations, the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother
and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita. We strive to achieve this
through effective networking among our member organizations and in
collaboration with other appropriate organizations.
As a Catholic not-for-profit healthcare corporation grounded in
Gospel values, we provide leadership and governance in the design
and implementation of integrated healthcare and related services.
Vision
Via Christi is an integrated health system that goes far beyond
hospital walls. Within our regional network, we're bringing a full
range of services together for our communities. On any given day,
people rely on Via Christi healthcare through any of the dozens of
providers located throughout the region. Because those providers, in
turn, have direct access to other providers, patients can be
directed along the most efficient path to meet their individual
healthcare needs. And because Via Christi Health System is
comprehensive in the scope of its care, families, their employees
and insurers can all rely on one resource for the diverse range of
care they need.
Values
In unity with the healing mission of Jesus, we profess five core
values which embody the foundation of our existence.
These values are:
Community
The primary bonds of relationship and acceptance, promoting a sense
of family and unity both among those being served and among those
providing service.
Competence
The demonstration and development of our capability and proficiency
as we work together with respect, cooperation, and professionalism.
Service
The opportunity to use our gifts, skill, and wisdom in ministering
to others to the best of our abilities.
Human Dignity
The belief that everyone is entitled to recognition, respect,
self-worth, and the opportunity to develop his or her potential.
Vision
The ability to collaboratively plan for the future using
individuals' knowledge and talents for innovation, creative thought,
anticipation and imagination.
